Informal Presentation - Hashtag #YesAllWomen
Today I want to talk about my hashtag
#YesAllWomen.
Firstly, I want to state the causes.
l “2014 Isla Vista Killings” : happening in California that left six
people dead and thirteen others wounded. The killer was a young man named
Elliot Rodger. The reason why he kills so many people was girls have never been
attracted to him – misogyny ( is the hatred or dislike of women or girls).
l After the news was announced, people found a video on YouTube about
the killer. He said he knew the video will be his last, but he never regret. He
wants to make all the women punished. The video brought about a big discussion
online.
l #NotAllMen (shortened hashtag version of not all men like that). In the wake of the killings, some Twitter users made the argument that
"not all men" are like this, or would commit such crimes.
l Followed by the hashtag #NotAllMen, #AllForWomen is a hashtag designed for
women to tell their own stories & experience and protect their benefit.
Secondly, I want to explain my hashtag.
l #YesAllWomen
is a Twitter hashtag and social media campaign in which users (especially
women) share examples or stories of misogyny and violence against women. The
campaign attempted to raise awareness of sexism that women experience, often
from people they know.
l Effect:
A. Attention: This hashtag made people pay attention to women’s benefit.
B. Call to action: Setting off anguished conversation about the treatment
of women online and in reality.
C. Help women raise the awareness of
self-protecting.
Thirdly, I would like to state my
understanding of the cause and effect relationship.
l The
necessity is to draw attention towards the fact that all women have felt the
effects of discrimination, sexism and/or verbal/physical in their lives.
Cause:
2014 Isla Vista Killings → THE killer’s

#NotAllMen →

Response to “Growing Up with Two Moms”
The
author shared her different childhood including experience and emotions with
readers. Her true feeling and the process of attitudes changing shocked me,
made me moved.
Obviously,
though the topic about homosexual could be accepted more easily than before, it
is also sensitive for somebody, let alone your mother is a gay people. I can
understand the author’s feeling. Adolescence has the rebellious phase in
puberty and loses confidence easily. The fact that “I have two moms” broken
something of her values, so she wanted to hide the truth to make the life
surface as before. Actually, I think she knew the surface clam wouldn’t sustain
for a long time. In another hand, the mom “Barb” was a really nice and friendly
person, in addition to she was a woman. But it’s unfair. We can’t deny that “Barb” was a competent parent. For a family, the most important thing is love rather than gender. Homosexual should be treated equally. They also should have normal life and have right to choose their own life. The families members all feel happy, that’s enough!
